About Wedding Ceremonies in Greece
In Greece, most couples handle the legal aspects of marriage separately from their celebrant-led ceremony. Typically, couples complete the legal formalities either in their home country before traveling to Greece or at a local town hall in Greece. I can guide you through this process and ensure your celebrant ceremony is everything you've dreamed of, while the legal aspects are taken care of separately.
I recommend booking as early as possible, especially for ceremonies during the peak season (May-September). Many couples secure their date 12-18 months in advance, though I occasionally have availability for last-minute bookings.
Absolutely! I'm proud to create inclusive ceremonies for all couples. Love is love, and I'm honored to celebrate with you.
Yes! Personal vows can be the most meaningful part of your ceremony. I offer guidance if you'd like help writing them, or you can keep them completely private until the ceremony.
Always have a Plan B for outdoor ceremonies in Greece. While we're blessed with abundant sunshine, it's wise to discuss backup options with your venue or planner. I'm flexible and will work with you regardless of weather conditions.
About Greek Wedding Traditions
The Stefana ceremony involves placing two crowns connected by ribbon on the couple's heads, symbolizing your union and crowning you as king and queen of your new home. The crowns are exchanged three times between your heads, representing the Holy Trinity and your eternal bond.
The couple shares a cup of wine, symbolizing that from this day forward, you will share everything in life—both the sweet and the bitter. This tradition dates back to ancient Greece and represents your commitment to supporting each other through all of life's experiences.
Koufeta are traditional Greek wedding favors. The white symbolizes purity, the almond represents fertility, and the sugar coating signifies the sweetness of married life. They're always given in odd numbers (usually 5 or 7), which are indivisible, symbolizing that the couple cannot be divided.
Not at all! I can incorporate these traditions while explaining their significance to you and your guests in English, ensuring everyone understands and appreciates these beautiful customs.
Practical Questions
For ceremonies in Zakynthos, there are no additional travel fees. For other locations in Greece, I charge a reasonable travel fee based on the destination. I arrange all my own travel and accommodation.
After receiving your deposit, I'll send you a detailed questionnaire to learn more about your story and vision. We'll have follow-up conversations to refine the details, and I'll begin crafting your ceremony script. You'll have unlimited revisions until it's perfect.
I understand that circumstances change. If I'm available on your new date, I'm happy to transfer your booking with no additional fee. If I'm not available, I'll do my best to help you find another celebrant.
I typically wear smart, professional attire that complements your wedding colors and style. We'll discuss this during our planning process to ensure I fit seamlessly with your vision.
For larger ceremonies or outdoor settings where wind might be a factor, I recommend having a sound system. This can usually be arranged through your venue or DJ. For intimate ceremonies, a microphone may not be necessary.
